Eternity

There are times when we allow the demands of the day to interfere with the expectations of eternity. Today shouts, "Do, Do, Do!" while eternity whispers, "Pray, Pray Pray." So we give and take in an effort to find some sort of common ground until once again we lose balance. And suddenly everything practical gains the upper hand. But I have a feeling heaven doesn't see "practical" the same way we do.

Busy

We cannot abide in a copy/paste sort of Christianity. And yet we still try to copy/paste scripture to our busy lives until we claim the need to catch our breath when the day gets short and our list gets long. But God does not want us to remain there. While we are busy scrambling to catch our breath he is longing to captivate our hearts. So that leaves us with one question; are we too busy for God today?

Pride

A walk with footsteps marked by humility is a walk that will go the extra mile. A walk with footsteps marred by pride will eventually stumble.

"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall." -Proverbs 16:18

Life

Sometimes my life feels like a tangled mess and I find myself lost in a performance trap. Other times my life still feels messy, but beautiful at the same time when I find myself walking in God's anointing.

"You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." -Psalm 23:5,6

Simplify

A life lived simply can be a life full of substance, but not so much in the things that are seen. Instead, substance can be found in things unseen-things we can't drive or wear or own. Substance can be found in virtues.

"Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience." -Colossians 3:12

Overflow

We can look at life and see that the glass is half full. And that is very good. But what happens if that is not enough? What if the glass could be so full to the point of overflowing? Wouldn't that be better?

"You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows." -Psalm 23:5

Perspective

Life is an empty stage waiting for us to step out and shine.

Life is a cozy corner in a coffee shop inviting us to be still.

Life is a bowl full of hope and promise ready to be served.

Life is ...

"...I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." -Jesus (John 10:10)

Wisdom

Wisdom showed up one day.
She came in the room all aglow.
Her hair sat softly on her shoulders.
Her smiled beamed with an inviting warmth.
She carried a bag that draped across her shoulder,
and she pulled from it something she usually brings... healing.

"Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing." -Proverbs 12:18
